How Payter to OCPI connects

Payter to OCPI connects the terminal in the charge station to the Charge Point Operator's Charge Station Management System:

The components are:

  • Payment Terminal: reads the driver's bank or charging card and sends the card data to Payter. In return, it shows the driver the welcome screen, tariffs, and session information that Payter sends back.
  • Cloud Payment Service: carries data between the payment terminal and Payter to OCPI in both directions. Card taps reach Payter to OCPI and screen updates reach the terminal.
  • Payter to OCPI: translates terminal activity into OCPI messages, such as a command to start a session, and sends them to the Charge Station Management System. It forwards information such as the location, tariff, session, and Charge Detail Records from the Charge Station Management System to the Cloud Payment Service.
  • Charge Station Management System: receives OCPI commands from Payter to OCPI, controls the EV charger, and reports session and charging data back to Payter to OCPI.
  • EV Charger: delivers power to the vehicle when the Charge Station Management System starts a session, and reports its status and energy use back to the Charge Station Management System.
  • Management tools: our internal tools for managing Payter to OCPI.
